This is great. I love the framing of it. And what a crazy big urn that is!

This photo makes me appreciate your previous photo more.

I do see what you're talking about with the white balance being off somewhat. But it doesn't look too bad. Have you played around with the color balance in PS?

What an interestingly shaped hole in the fence! I am interested in seeing a verticle crop of the same photo, long and skinny, without cutting any of the current height . . .

lum: thanks for your comments! I did try PS, but I'm sure it's possible to do a better job... it's not like I'm gaja or anything! ;)

jcm: that sounds like a neat idea! I'll post some edits soon, as well as a couple of other photos that had framed it differently.

So far I like this one the best! It's almost as if the fence was cut out just right (and intentionally) so that a passer-by could see the urn.

Hey, I hope this isn't too weird, but I thought I'd take a quick crack at fixing the white balance problem in your photo. Now it's true I'm no Gaja, so I don't have any advanced techniques, but here's what I did:

I just went to Color Balance (Ctrl+B, or if you want to go the long way: Image -> Adjustments -> Color Balance) and adjusted as follows:

Highlights
+13 (towards red)
+8 (towards green)
-10 (towards yellow)

Midtones
+32 (towards red)
+10 (towards green)
-26 (towards yellow)

Shadows
+11 (towards red)
0

The result is here. I think there's still a touch too much maroon in there, but it's definitely tending more towards warm reds and yellows than the purply-blue that you have now... It might be worth playing around with this with your other photos. I just chose this one because it's my favorite so far from the series. There's no rhyme or reason for those particular settings I chose. I just moved the sliders until it looked good to me.

Actually, if we have our meetup soon and if Gaja's willing to work on our photos for us (as she suggested), this might be a good one for her to try!
